Will Michigan ditch the Super Raffle?

June 28, 2008

So I’m sitting here after spending 40 bucks on the Raffle….when will the next raffle come out? I’m curious how it will work out since it rotates Millionaire Raffle then Super Raffle. Will Michigan finally ditch the Super Raffle?
The reason I’m thinking this is that not only did it have very bad sale records, but they had to extend the drawing date an extra week plus because of low sales. For 50 bucks a ticket, I’m not sure whether or not that’d be a great idea to do. Will I buy a ticket buy a ticket? Of course, I always buy the latest and greatest ticket available! I have been lacking in scratch and win tickets, or should I say, Scratch and Lose tickets because there is no hope like there is with the mega millions and the like. You buy it, you get it, you lose. All within a few seconds.

A new beginning coming

June 21, 2008

With the Raffle drawing around the corner on Monday a thought came to mind. If bought far apart, could one person possibly win 2 of the million dollar prizes? The odds for it happening are so far and out there it’s about as likely as winning the actual mega millions. However, I bought my tickets so far apart that it seems that I may have a chance. A very very slim chance, but a chance nonetheless. Will I win? Odds are against me, I’ve bought tickets far apart before and won absolutely NOTHING. I’ve also had people email me as well as comment on this blog saying they played the actual odds of winning and STILL won nothing. That right there just kinda cheese me off, since the odds aren’t there and are of course wrong. But its the closest way to determined what actually can be won. I’m hoping for at least 100 bucks after laying down 38 bucks for the tickets. If I win anything more then that, I’ll be on cloud 9.

Michigan Mega Million Adventures!

August 31, 2007

A little overboard maybe, but between me and my girlfriend we have 24 chances to win the mega millions. Does that many chances make a difference? Maybe….maybe not. We started out the journey just cruising around talking about it as I usually swing the conversation and then it hit her. The big 330 million dollar sign of the mega millions on the highway. Right then she told me she wanted to go in on it and BIG. We both wanted 20 each but then settled for 10, me having only 15 bucks and her only having a 20. Fair is fair and we wanted to make sure we both split it evenly down the middle and nobody had an extra ticket chance to their name. We drove down to the local party store Zmart and made our big bets there for 20 chances. It didn’t stop there though. The next day as I was getting gas after I picked her up from school, she decided to disappear and reappear with 2 lottery tickets…..a sobe and some dorito’s. That upped it to 22 chances.

At this point she had some leverage on me but insisted that everything is split down the middle. I believe her, but I just wouldn’t feel right knowing she bought more tickets then I did for the contribution. Later that day I wanted to show her these huge houses I seen last time me and my friend bought lottery tickets. Last time the jackpot hit over 300 million, me my friend and his g/f all went about 20 miles to the edge of Ann Arbor. Maybe not the edge, but we all agreed to drive 10 minutes west from the highway and stop at the next available lottery retailer that wasn’t a gas station. After that we drove another 10 minutes and came upon this small area of 3 story houses that were just astonishing. I wanted to show her for so long but the first time there was construction. However yesterday there was not only construction, but thee weirdest craziest signs and directions I’ve seen. Are they common? Somewhere perhaps, but nothing I’ve ever seen. So we had to head back home disappointed. Of course we made a stop at Chipotle for some guac and chips and some burrito goodness. If your in Ann Arbor off of 23 and Washtenaw anywhere, it’s a must go!

We headed for a fillup at Meijer gas station. Sure I filled up earlier, but only a gallon or 2. Enough to get me to Meijer so I can use the 50 cents off per gallon coupon. It’s a godsend!! Only 10 gallons, but hey 5 bucks saved there!! That went straight to the lottery fund though from earlier. While I was pumping gas, she waved a dollar bill out and said one more, one more! Am I in love with this girl or what? So I went to pay and put a dollar of my own into a 2 pick ticket for the mega millions. She’s officially bought 2 more tickets then me to date and I have 12 hours to come up with 2 of my own to make it feel fair.

The big jackpot for tonight’s drawing is an estimated: $330 million.

A nice little post from the Michigan website that is finally cracking down and letting people know some of what they’ll win:

If a player wins Friday’s $330 million jackpot and chooses the annuity payment option, he or she will receive a whopping $12.7 million per year for 26 years, less taxes! That breaks down to $1,057,692 per month; $244,083 per week; $34,773 per day; and $4,347 per day for an eight-hour day!

If a winner prefers the prize in one payment, the amount is $194.4 million, less taxes.”
I know I’ll go with the down payment but at the same time I always wonder about the payments. Then again I might wake up one day and get hit by a bus during a morning bike ride or jog. Life’s to short to worry about money after you’ve won the lottery. If you act like a complete spend thrift with it then I can see that the payments would be a lot more better for you. I don’t need all those lavish dinners and things. Just get me a huge house and stock it full of the best video games and entertainment equipment and I’m set for life.

I wish everybody the best of luck!

Back online!!

June 2, 2007

The absence has been clearly known due to lack of winning numbers and posting. Why does this happen? Internet has been crap lately and has been out the past few days. Not to mention when numbers are missed it’s internet down as well….well except 1 time, that time I was just kinda lazy and busy. Now that that’s settled, on to the week of the lottery playings I encountered.

I had a good day the other day to start off. Forgot to check out my winning numbers and had some notation that I won the jackpot. And of course the ideas run through my head on how I could now take it easy. To make things better I passed the Michigan Mega Millions sign and realized that the jackpot has been reset to 12 million meaning someone won the 44 million dollar jackpot last Tuesday! I was excited to say the least thinking maybe it was me that won, I could finally retire. This could be the day! Of course when I got home I was no winner and only managed to get 1 white ball number. Better to dream sometimes I guess.

I did happen to get my g/f addicted to scratch and win tickets and with the extra cash on hand we decided to do some luck investigating this week. I bought a 20 dollar Game Book, a 2 dollar bingo and a 5 dollar bingo scratch and win. She loved doing the bingo ones so it was entertaining at least. I was to curious about the game book and stupid me fell into the trap when the cashier handed it to me and said someone won 500 bucks last week there. I could feel the excitement……an hour later I felt jipped. When will I learn. I always have to have a 2nd shot at any scratch and win ticket I buy no matter what if I win or not. A 20 dollar ticket makes it worse though. Its a habit, it’s gone though. No more Game Book for me. But on the other hand the 2 dollar bingo card netted me 4 bucks in win and the 5 dollar bingo netted 5 bucks. So I spent 27 dollars, won 9 dollars and I’m only 18 bucks in the hole this week. Works for me. I’ll be interested in buying another 1 or 3 bingo scratch and win tickets to fight the urge. Very fun and take quite some time. It may be my new favorite type of scratch and win.

In terms of Mega Millions, didn’t win it Tuesday nor did I win it or anything else last night on Friday. Kind of a bummer but the Super Raffle set for a June 18th drawing. Still having plans on how it’s possible to make a living off that money through smart low risk investments while still maintaining a decent life style.

The curse is lifted!! Millionaire Raffle Tomorrow!

April 19, 2007

That’s right! Tuesdays lottery proved to be fruitful and positive for me for once in my life! Ok, calmed down and all cool now. I happened to match the MEGA ball and scored two bucks. Equaling out the dollar spent, I earned a dollar. I got that going for me right now, sweetness. Of course all the gas spent to get all the tickets I need pretty much squashes any TRUE earnings. But I’m in good spirits because of it!

The Michigan Millionaire Raffle is tomorrow night!! I’ll be online ready to tell the top numbers to show off all the goodness that I may win and or the pissed offness of what I lose. I spent $140 on the millionaire tickets so I’m hoping to get some kind of return on the whole thing. Even if it’s just a grand. If I lose, there goes a portion of my tax refund. It’s about time I go balls out and try something new with that raffle. God bless tax returns and everything stupid people buy with them. Does anybody ever really invest their tax return for a net gain profit? I’m not talking, investing in entertainment or fun or even collectibles to sell at a later date. I’m talking about a bank account,  a CD or maybe playing the stocks! Does anybody ever do that? I’ve yet to meet someone that has done that with their money. The closest I know of is myself and a few others who spend money on forms of gambling, me being the lottery. I have a good feeling about this one though!

The Daily 3

March 24, 2007

I’m not quite sure what made me want to play the Daily 3, but I figured in my quest to learn more about the Michigan Lottery, I should play all of what I can and see how the results are! The enticing price of winning for only 50 cents I decided I had to try it at least once! I convinced my friend to go halves with me, a Quarter each, but no change availed and we split a $1 ticket. Needless to say, we lost. The expense along with the odds of winning are a lot better! So many options to play and so many ways to win. I’ll be playing every possible way to get more indepth knowledge of the whole thing. To let you readers know the better ways to play! For the lowest wager of 50 cents, I can see this being a new possible addiction or favorite to play.

I didn’t win the Mega Millions but I’m having higher hopes of winning the Michigan Millionaire Raffle! I can smell the million already. If not, I can already see me with a new house for the 100,000 prize. Nothing to fancy, but a great starter house to be out on my own with my g/f and little baby. I do have a few things I was thinking about. It’s the fact that I’m not on a winning streak. I’m $22 in the hole for Mega Millions and won nothing. I spent $41 bucks in scratch and wins and I’ve only won $9. It’s kind of a shot in the foot when you think about it, but I’m starting to think that the big money is in the higher priced tickets. I’ve noticed that I’ve never won anything this year on a $1 ticket to date. I’ve never gone as far as venturing to buy a $20 ticket anytime soon. Even though I’ve spent $140 on 7 $20 Millionaire raffle tickets but not a scratch and win. Maybe one day I’ll have my way and fish out a 20 spot. Not until I get a job though, 20 bucks is a lot to spend on a scratch and win. I can’t afford to be that addicted right now. But my first paycheck, I’ll search one out and see what happens!

Plans to stretch the profits

March 17, 2007

Instead of sitting up bright and early to spit out the numbers last night after the drawing, I decided to sit back and think what I might do with the money I would win. The thought of early retirement is always exciting and the thought of starting up franchises and my own business is also in the plans. What kind of business’s would I open? Well I’m not what you call a business expert but I have enough common sense skills to not have the entire thing tank. My first and foremost favorite fun franchise would be to open a Chipotle restaurant in a high populated college area. They just put one up in Ann Arbor and I’ve been there twice within the first week of opening already. It’s always packed and I find myself either having to stand to eat with other people or take it all to my car and eat it there. Outside wasn’t an option since there’s no tables or no room for tables it looks like but the weather was a bit to cold the second time around. I would of loved to sit out on a bench the first time when the sun was perfect 72 degrees and not a cold breeze in sight.

Back to the franchise’s! Ok, Chipotle might be the only franchise I’d do but maybe start my own restaurant gimmick that I think’s great but won’t go into detail because it’s that awesome! But another business venture I’d love to go into is some kind of ad agency. At heart I’m a graphic designer and would love to run an ad agency from the ground up. Seems to far fetched since I can’t even get work as a graphic designer so that dreams going to pretty much live down in the toilet. Can always dream though right? Maybe start a few publication ideas I been having swimming in my mind. Then the ultimate idea, the video game bar. Something like a Buffalo Wild Wings but you can sit down and play some console games. The idea has many flaws and what not but loving the whole daily tournament aspects of the place where every day there’s tournaments going on with cash prizes! Entry fees of cash will win cash, if you go there to buy some grub and snackage and play the tournament you get a gift card to come back again. It’s an idea in the running.

On to the lottery!! As always I played the Mega Millions but still haven’t quite won it yet. All I can think of is just buying a house a car and….after that my mind pretty much goes blank other then a big screen TV and lots of video games and video game parties. Just a whole mess of fun and hanging out the rest of my life. But then again that’s not really going to happen, but I can always dream. Like I said before, I didn’t win the lottery, close with 2 balls though! I’m slowly climbing up with numbers. Here are those numbers!

Scratch and Win Entertainment

March 15, 2007

Another day goes by and I say to myself. Why not me? I see all these people winning instant jackpots from scratch and wins and ask myself. Why not me? I buy multiple scratch and win tickets only to lose and feel bad about spending my money and ask my self. WHY ME?

It’s that little addiction I like to call the Scratch and Win Lottery ticket frenzy. It’s the guilty little pleasure people have sometimes when they walk into a party store for a drink and find yourself with an extra buck in change after your purchase. Maybe it’s when you go to get a quick snack at a gas station while your pumping gas into your vehicle. Or even if you grab an extra dollar out of your pocket when you go for your lottery ticket. Either way, there’s always that temptation to buy a scratch and win ticket for a quick fix and to possible earn a little more cash in your pocket. After all, the odds to win something for a dollar or two are a lot better then an actual lottery ticket. That’s when you pay for your scratch and win and hope you get something to win. Sometimes you scratch it in your car or maybe you scratch it when you get home. How about being that person that sits there at the cash register chatting with the clerk about how much your going to win all the while scratching away at the ticket with the free penny from the take a penny give a penny plate.

We’ve all seen those people right? The stack of tickets, scratching away when your in line waiting for the person in front while every bodies watching the same person scratch away. What’s he do with the tickets? Most likely he keeps buying more hoping to roll into the big one and leave the store and set up an appointment to collect his big winnings. Everybody has had the urge to do that, don’t lie. I’m not saying you would, I’m just saying that you’d love to win something on the tickets but you won’t spend a penny.

The other day I purchased about 5 of those Red Wings scratch and wins all together. Two of them gave me my money back and the other 3 lost. Good. I wanted to lose so I could send them in for an extra drawing to win the fantasy trip or TV. So today I’m handed 5 bucks especially for scratch and wins. Couldn’t spend it on anything else, so I go for the 2 for 1 ticket and 2 American Idol scratch and wins. All lost, but of course the American Idol one has the buy 3 non-winning tickets and get into a drawing for the finale or chance to win a 47″ screen TV. That meant of course I had to buy a 3rd American Idol ticket which I promptly did. For the first time in my life, I was that guy everybody see’s scratching a ticket while others are paying for their gas and looking to see if I was winning. Why you ask? Well I just needed 1 more losing ticket and worst case scenario, I get it. Best case scenario, I either earn my money back to buy another, or win a bigger pot and maybe fill up my tank of gas for the week! Well, I lost. I was happy. Now it’s on it’s way to the drawing for me to win a grand prize of a TV hopefully. I honestly don’t care enough to want to go to the finale since I’m not a fan of the show, but maybe I could sell it if I have no choice…..maybe buy some more scratch and wins.

But as always, I got my mega millions ticket for a chance to win 28 million!! Since I was given the money, but had to buy scratch and win tickets…i’m still going to technically put them on my money spent list for scratch and win tickets. Also on a totally unrelated note.. I picked up 3 Nintendo tooth brushes….old school.

Another one bites the dust

March 14, 2007

Another ticket bites the dust for last nights mega millions estimated at 19 million. The ups and downs of this? Of course the ups are always the raising of the jackpot!! To the tune of an estimated 28 million dollars! That’s a nice little spot of change wouldn’t you say? I gotta say, I had a good feeling about this small mega millions jackpot. Kind of like being an over night millionaire under the radar. I did happen to get 2 of the numbers in white balls, but they don’t count. Still excited since 2 numbers is about the highest I’ve gotten this year. It almost seems as if I’ll be going down deep and not earning any in the black, but only time will tell!!  I still need to package up my Detroit Red Wings Scratch and Wins and send those off to get some free swag and hopefully a big screen TV.

Late Night Jackpot

March 10, 2007

Why is it a late night jackpot? Well because I’m up at 2:30 in the morning pondering how life is and thought I’d come on and share the numbers with all you late night google/aol/yahoo searching fiends. Nobody won the jackpot, that much can be said right now, but the good news is that it went up another 7 million dollars to an estimated 19 million! It’s starting that slow climb back up the hill to another record breaking jackpot. Maybe it’ll break the 400 mill marker this time? Only time can tell!! This I do know though. I won absolutely nothing. Nadda. No numbers or mega balls at all to my name. Its sad when I was just as excited to win 12 mill as I was at a chance to win 390 mill. So without further talking, here are the numbers as promised!
