A Saturday of Luck? Not really

Just having a new born baby I thought I’d have some luck in playing the lottery. Well I played the Classic, Mega and the Daily 3 with a day off the numbers since the lady didn’t hear me well. I’m thinking that’s what caused the unluckiness, but neither of the numbers showed up. I’m still crossing my fingers for tomorrows supposed Raffle draw though. I have two tickets just dying to win!

Two of my latest projects I been tinkering with is playing every single possible combination of the daily 3 over the course of 1000 days. A long daunting project that is not only time consuming but will be more of a better way to put a book together me thinks. What happened to the Project Lottery Life book? Well of course there was dead time in between posts here and there and nobody bought into the idea. I will however be putting together the blog posts of that year and making an e book out of them when I get a chance.

The next project I’ve been working on as of late is playing the Fantasy 5 for a month straight everyday to see the odds on that, something like the original Project Lottery Life with the Mega Millions except I’ll do better book keeping.

Why wasn’t there a big event on me doing that project? Well every time I got a ticket I wrote down the numbers, however I didn’t keep the ticket and it just turned out not feeling right since I really didn’t have any concrete proof that I played it every time. However I will be making a post on the results of it shortly.

A new beginning coming

With the Raffle drawing around the corner on Monday a thought came to mind. If bought far apart, could one person possibly win 2 of the million dollar prizes? The odds for it happening are so far and out there it’s about as likely as winning the actual mega millions. However, I bought my tickets so far apart that it seems that I may have a chance. A very very slim chance, but a chance nonetheless. Will I win? Odds are against me, I’ve bought tickets far apart before and won absolutely NOTHING. I’ve also had people email me as well as comment on this blog saying they played the actual odds of winning and STILL won nothing. That right there just kinda cheese me off, since the odds aren’t there and are of course wrong. But its the closest way to determined what actually can be won. I’m hoping for at least 100 bucks after laying down 38 bucks for the tickets. If I win anything more then that, I’ll be on cloud 9.

New Blog Logo

This place finally got an upgrade with it’s own personal logo!

The good man himself Cliff Nowicki over at www.cliffnowicki.com created a personal logo to by pass all the plain jane stuff that we have right now. Sound familiar? Well it’s me of course, and I felt that this place needed a quick something to distinguish itself. I’ve had it sitting around for months before I realized that it was finally time to put it up on the site.

I’ve also been trying some other money making ideas, but have yet to figure it out with all that stuff. I’ll be making a book/dvd page and go through the amazon area and hopefully if your into buying lottery stuff you can do it through there and I can get a little commission on that. I’ll announce that as soon as it becomes available so you can get your hands on some cool lottery stuff that you may not have known.

Friday the 13th. Lucky Lotto Day?

The answer to that question is a big fat no. A co-worker suggested today that I buy 13 lottery tickets upon hearing that Friday the 13th is a lucky day for me. As an avid lotto player, I jumped at the chance. I decided to try my luck at a few other tickets as well. What was the total of ticket buyage?

I just had to buy a 2nd Raffle ticket with big hopes that my lucky day may pay off. Will it pay off? Only time will tell, but so far the tickets that game out with winning numbers are the mega millions, fantasy 5 and daily 3. A total of 15 bucks spent on those and a grand total of……$3 bucks!! YAY I can make u p for the classic, fantasy and daily. It was worth a shot, the tickets still waiting to be called out is tonights Classic Lotto and the Michigan Raffle. I have a good hope about that raffle ticket. At the end of the day I don’t feel as lucky but really hopeful about that Raffle ticket.

I finally cashed in those Fantasy 5 tickets today to get some more Fantasy 5 tickets along with a Classic Lotto ticket. Will I win the big one tonight? I dunno, I just might. I’m still waiting on the Michigan Raffle that only has 75k tickets left to go! Get buying those tickets people otherwise they’ll cut it off completely. Would that be a good thing? If I personally don’t win anything, I would think it’s a good thing. If they still kept it around however, I’d still chip in my money to get it when it comes out.

4 people win the 330 Million Mega Millions jackpot!

It was tough to see people win the jackpot, especially after 4 different people won it. I am a little shocked to read a report of it on abc news website via yahoo.  Entitled ” $330 Million dollar jackpot split not so mega”, the story goes on to say how the winners will be depressed because they can’t buy 100+ million dollar houses or 90 some million dollar gulf stream’s or near 100 mill worth of art. After taxes each person is entitled to a lump sum of 48.6 million dollars. I mean seriously what the fuck were they thinking? Are they assuming all jackpot winners are over spending assholes that blow their money like it was nothing?  The part that really got me was the suggestion that they at least have 35 million dollars to go to the moon and have 12 million left over. It’s sad to see a news site print this rubbish and assume all winners are morons with their money.

Here’s a news flash. Not 100% of the people that win the lottery are morons with their money. If someone is depressed they only won  48.6 million dollars, then odds are money isn’t what makes them happy. The things that could be done with 48.6 million dollars is incredible!! Anybody in their right mind that’s been working all their lives and are reasonalble people will think even a quarter of that is a God send and will be happy for every last dime! I’m still excited as hell to win anything! I may have only won 3 bucks from that lottery but I’d be happy if I broke even. The old saying goes, If someone gave you 10 dollars and your friend next to you 100 bucks….would you be happy you got at least something or would you be pissed off someone got more then you?

ABC news seems to have stereotyped lottery winners as money hungry idiots that blow through there money like it was no tomorrow and go broke by the time they hit the 3rd year. Has it happened? Of course it has! There’s been documentaries about this kind of thing that look through the lives of people. Well another news flash, every last person in those documentaries are not the only people who have won jackpots. Basing your opinions off a documentary with the bad part of the lottery is just ignorant. I hope ABC news has future lottery stories that aren’t ignorant. After all, they are professionals!

Michigan Mega Million Adventures!

A little overboard maybe, but between me and my girlfriend we have 24 chances to win the mega millions. Does that many chances make a difference? Maybe….maybe not. We started out the journey just cruising around talking about it as I usually swing the conversation and then it hit her. The big 330 million dollar sign of the mega millions on the highway. Right then she told me she wanted to go in on it and BIG. We both wanted 20 each but then settled for 10, me having only 15 bucks and her only having a 20. Fair is fair and we wanted to make sure we both split it evenly down the middle and nobody had an extra ticket chance to their name. We drove down to the local party store Zmart and made our big bets there for 20 chances. It didn’t stop there though. The next day as I was getting gas after I picked her up from school, she decided to disappear and reappear with 2 lottery tickets…..a sobe and some dorito’s. That upped it to 22 chances.

At this point she had some leverage on me but insisted that everything is split down the middle. I believe her, but I just wouldn’t feel right knowing she bought more tickets then I did for the contribution. Later that day I wanted to show her these huge houses I seen last time me and my friend bought lottery tickets. Last time the jackpot hit over 300 million, me my friend and his g/f all went about 20 miles to the edge of Ann Arbor. Maybe not the edge, but we all agreed to drive 10 minutes west from the highway and stop at the next available lottery retailer that wasn’t a gas station. After that we drove another 10 minutes and came upon this small area of 3 story houses that were just astonishing. I wanted to show her for so long but the first time there was construction. However yesterday there was not only construction, but thee weirdest craziest signs and directions I’ve seen. Are they common? Somewhere perhaps, but nothing I’ve ever seen. So we had to head back home disappointed. Of course we made a stop at Chipotle for some guac and chips and some burrito goodness. If your in Ann Arbor off of 23 and Washtenaw anywhere, it’s a must go!

We headed for a fillup at Meijer gas station. Sure I filled up earlier, but only a gallon or 2. Enough to get me to Meijer so I can use the 50 cents off per gallon coupon. It’s a godsend!! Only 10 gallons, but hey 5 bucks saved there!! That went straight to the lottery fund though from earlier. While I was pumping gas, she waved a dollar bill out and said one more, one more! Am I in love with this girl or what? So I went to pay and put a dollar of my own into a 2 pick ticket for the mega millions. She’s officially bought 2 more tickets then me to date and I have 12 hours to come up with 2 of my own to make it feel fair.

The big jackpot for tonight’s drawing is an estimated: $330 million.

A nice little post from the Michigan website that is finally cracking down and letting people know some of what they’ll win:

“If a player wins Friday’s $330 million jackpot and chooses the annuity payment option, he or she will receive a whopping $12.7 million per year for 26 years, less taxes! That breaks down to $1,057,692 per month; $244,083 per week; $34,773 per day; and $4,347 per day for an eight-hour day!

If a winner prefers the prize in one payment, the amount is $194.4 million, less taxes.”
I know I’ll go with the down payment but at the same time I always wonder about the payments. Then again I might wake up one day and get hit by a bus during a morning bike ride or jog. Life’s to short to worry about money after you’ve won the lottery. If you act like a complete spend thrift with it then I can see that the payments would be a lot more better for you. I don’t need all those lavish dinners and things. Just get me a huge house and stock it full of the best video games and entertainment equipment and I’m set for life.

Getting it straight

I hear it on many comments, emails and all sorts of other to do’s about this blog on playing the lottery. The most common misconception I get is that I truly believe that winning the lottery is the best way to secure a financial future. Another one is that I think I WILL win the lottery one day.

Well it’s time to get things straight. The entire reason I started this blog was back in the beginning of the year when people have told me that it’s a waste to buy lottery tickets. Last year I played a majority of the year and tallied about 17 bucks in profit.  I had no concrete proof of it or anything. So what better way to see the proof as to buying actual lottery tickets each time the Mega Millions game is played on Tuesdays and Fridays. Yes, I do realize it’s all random and it won’t be the same for anybody else.

I named it Project Lottery Life. At the end of a full year I will give my results along with a whole bunch of stats and what not. I plan on making it into a book as well and hopefully get it published. Will I get exposure for this? Maybe, maybe not but I’ll know once and for all what odds are for playing every single time for a full year.  That’s the full point of this project when it was first started.

I write about the idea of winning the lottery along with anything else in my mind that pops up and has to do with the lottery. I talk about what I’d do if I won the lottery in certain situations and what I wish I had if I won the lottery. If it comes off that I actually won the lottery then your wrong. I know I dont’ have any good chance of winning the lottery and I’m well aware that I may never ever win the lottery. However, I have fun with the idea of winning the Mega Millions. I try to support the lottery in the good ole state of Michigan and any of the other states that offer the Mega Millions. Why do I do this? Because I like the idea of the jackpot growing every time and I love the idle chit chat with people on the streets on what their idea of living the life would be if they won the lottery.

So that is what it’s all about!

The tickets will be on sale starting September 17th and the drawing will be October 22nd or 10 days within the sale of the last ticket. It’s good to see that the quick draw date is going to continue. Having to wait between purchase of the ticket and drawing was ridiculous!
