Getting it straight

July 31, 2007

I hear it on many comments, emails and all sorts of other to do’s about this blog on playing the lottery. The most common misconception I get is that I truly believe that winning the lottery is the best way to secure a financial future. Another one is that I think I WILL win the lottery one day.

Well it’s time to get things straight. The entire reason I started this blog was back in the beginning of the year when people have told me that it’s a waste to buy lottery tickets. Last year I played a majority of the year and tallied about 17 bucks in profit.  I had no concrete proof of it or anything. So what better way to see the proof as to buying actual lottery tickets each time the Mega Millions game is played on Tuesdays and Fridays. Yes, I do realize it’s all random and it won’t be the same for anybody else.

I named it Project Lottery Life. At the end of a full year I will give my results along with a whole bunch of stats and what not. I plan on making it into a book as well and hopefully get it published. Will I get exposure for this? Maybe, maybe not but I’ll know once and for all what odds are for playing every single time for a full year.  That’s the full point of this project when it was first started.

I write about the idea of winning the lottery along with anything else in my mind that pops up and has to do with the lottery. I talk about what I’d do if I won the lottery in certain situations and what I wish I had if I won the lottery. If it comes off that I actually won the lottery then your wrong. I know I dont’ have any good chance of winning the lottery and I’m well aware that I may never ever win the lottery. However, I have fun with the idea of winning the Mega Millions. I try to support the lottery in the good ole state of Michigan and any of the other states that offer the Mega Millions. Why do I do this? Because I like the idea of the jackpot growing every time and I love the idle chit chat with people on the streets on what their idea of living the life would be if they won the lottery.

So that is what it’s all about!

Dont’ forget to buy your tickets for tonights 65 million dollar jackpot this lovely July 31st.

Super Raffle Part 2

July 19, 2007

God bless those people at the lottery commission for coming up with the next Raffle game. The next raffle game will be the 2nd Super Raffle. In which the tickets cost 50 bucks and the odds to win are the best! From michigan.gov/lottery

The Super Raffle, which is the fifth Raffle game offered by the Lottery, offers odds of 1 in 125,000 of winning $2 million. Odds of winning $100,000 are 1 in 10,000 and of winning $500, 1 in 56.”

Its coming people!! Grab your 50 spots and hundies and go down to your gas station or wherever you buy your stuff and pick up a ticket!! The first super raffle sold out in a matter of 3 days so dont’ take this lightly. The tickets will be on sale starting September 17th and the drawing will be October 22nd or 10 days within the sale of the last ticket. It’s good to see that the quick draw date is going to continue. Having to wait between purchase of the ticket and drawing was ridiculous!

I’ll be in line to get my 50 dollar ticket the second they start selling them at 6am. You there? I’ll be there.

Another winless day.

July 14, 2007

Another winless day another dollar flown away. Its all in good entertainment and fun I’d say. It always hits me that I didn’t win when I pass a mega millions billboard on the highway and notice the jackpot grew. All in all it’s always a good thing when that happens since it means more money to be won in the next drawing. I would like to win a lower jackpot though as somewhat of a richness humbling. Enough money to not have to work again but not enough to be Mr. extravagant with the money I would get. Enough to live in a big house with a fancy car and…that’s pretty much where it would end. Investing would take a big part into half of the money collected to live off some kind of interest when the other half of the money winds up. I wouldn’t be giving any away. I will defintely pay off anything my parents owe in terms of debt/bills. Thats about the only thing I can see doing with my money in terms of giving any away.

I’m talking the 12 million dollar jackpot. After taxes and cash option, we’re talking in the range of 6 million left in cash…worst case scenario of course. I’m still iffy about the numbers. The lottery commission has yet to respond to any of my emails asking what percentage of what is taken out of your final prize. Maybe more will be taken away cause the state of Michigan is horrible with financial situations. I’ve heard that Michigan is the top spending state in the entire country….COUNTRY!!! Someone needs to take responsibility and get a pay cut rather then raping the citizens on everything. $1.50 monthly charge on your phone bills to help police and firefighters? I sure hope if that passes, the money goes into the pockets of new police officers that actually stop crime rather then look the other way.

Enough of that rant, we’re talking about some humbling cash. Nobody won last nights jackpot brining the new one up to 26 million for Tuesdays.

July 13ths Fridays numbers were:

07   39   41   48   53   21

Millionaire Raffle Drawing Results! July 11th, 2007

July 11, 2007

It’s about time they drew the winning numbers after selling out. However, I was unfortunate to win anything out of a total of 3 possible tickets. Not even close, well maybe a dozen or so numbers. That’s hardly close. However I did have a fun time thinking of what to do with the so called money i would of won. I did play some scratch and wins today though. The WinSum and Fat 50’s tickets. Losers on all rounds, but the Fat 50’s promise 15,000 prizes of 50 bucks. I’ll be playing some more of that later to see if I can make anything out of it.

Tuesdays Mega Millions yielded no winners. I got 2 numbers off that drawing but that’s about it. No mega balls so there’s really no payout for that. It’s all fun though and it was great and exciting to play the Millionaire Raffle again. I’ll no doubt be playing the next one if there is one. They may have to rethink it through after taking twice as long to sell out tickets.

The numbers for the 12 mill jackpot on Tuesday

19 24 30 34 56 19

Nobody won so the new pot is 17 million!

I’d like to thank all you raffle ticket buyers out there who played the game to help Michigan be more encouraged to keep the Raffle game going…hopefully. And a big congrats to all you lucky winners big and small.

Mega Millions Lucky 7 day!

July 7, 2007

Being a blogger about the lottery, everybody knew there had to be a blog about today. The luckiest of days to most. Although it’s techncially 7707, 772007 the world see’s no zero’s and sees the numbers 777. The number that has been associated with a slot machines big jackpot payout. So how do you take part in the luckiest day on earth? Buy a lottery ticket!!  Hell buy 3 and some scratch and wins while your at it. The Michigan millionaire raffle is still selling as a matter of fact for 20 bucks. Picked up a ticket for my girlfriend today and was in the 540k’s That’s less then 60k tickets at about 7:30 this morning. If you think the lucky raffle ticket is still out there then you better buy it now!!

In the end, the only thing lucky about the number 7 is for anybody who actually wins anything. If you don’t win then you don’t believe it’s lucky after all. If you do win something, then the power of the triple 7 is lucky and you’ll be one of a few that goes around letting people know they won. On the inside, I know I already won. Not money, just at life in general.

The entire population that buys a lottery ticket feeling lucky and hopeful about winning something will feel exactly how I feel every single time I put down money. I feel lucky. I feel hopeful. I feel like the world’s mine. At least a few people will experience that and if you personally do, you’ll know for a split second how I feel about the lottery

Friday July 6ths numbers for a jackpot that was 126 mill won by someone in Texas

The winning ticket is worth 12 million dollars on Tuesday so be sure to check to see if you won anything from your lucky number day.

Millionaire Raffle Still going as of July 6th. What’s the deal?

July 6, 2007

According to the Michigan lotteries website, this is the info available:

As of July 5, only 81,728 Millionaire Raffle tickets are still available!

Still available!!??!! That’s right! Still kicking strong. It’s a real shame going on it’s near 12th day of being available. Usually sold out within a week, the raffle’s Michigan hold were once promising ways to get the best odds in town. Unfortuntely, the state is wising up to the odds and realize that they are shelling out big bucks for no return. Whats the deal? Here’s the problem. Not all of the money seems to be going to the winners of the game. Sure there’s the extra fee’s to be seen and the state’s gotta collect their share, but what amount is enough? According to the total number of prizes, there should be 8.2 million awarded in prize money. Now calculate the 20 dollar tickets times the 600k being sold and you have yourself 12 million dollars. There’s a 3.8 million dollar difference right there. I don’t know about the rest of you, but that seems a little light and a lot to be tossing around to make up for anything needed to produce the lottery.

I know the employees and everybody need to be paid but it still feels as if the taxes being taken out of the entire consumption of lottery gamblings would be enough. 34 percent of anything over 600 dollars is it? Sounds like whoever is winning isn’t really winning in the end. After cash out option of 35% there’s another 34% of that taken out me thinks. So 650k for the 1 mill cash out  and 34 percent of that turns out to 429k cash. Less then half a million when you win the 1 mill jackpot. Some raffle that sounds. In the end, whoever wins the 429,000 will be happy they spent 20 bucks. I sure wouldn’t mine exchanging a 20 dollar bill for a 429k check in my name. No guarantees, it’s a nice thought though.

Lucky Scratch and Win day

July 1, 2007

It was quite a day for lottery playing. In the end it pretty much equalled itself out in all winnings. I first started with a purchase of 2 Two-Line Bingo Cards and a mega millions ticket http://www.michigan.gov/lottery/0,1607,7-110-46442_821_838-169836–,00.html

It’s your basic 4 card bingo but getting 2 lines nets you double the amount of money. The ticket costs 2 bucks and it came out June 25th

Purchase Price: $5 bucks

I scratched it later in the day and the 1st one yielded a 20 dollar win!! The 2nd was a dud, but in the end it was worth more.

Total Profit: $15

Later in the day my g/f decided to go for a Millionaire Raffle ticket for 20 bucks and 3 Mini Sudoku scratch and wins. http://www.michigan.gov/lottery/0,1607,7-110-46442_821_838-169838–,00.html

One for me, her and my mom. My mom won nothing, she won 2 bucks and I won 4 bucks.

Total Spent: $26

Total Profit from purchase:-$20

Total Spent: $31

Total Profit from Day: -$5

Negative 5 bucks after spending  31 bucks is quite an accomplishment.

Scratch and Win total Spent: $10

Scratch and Win Total Profit: $16

The 16 bucks was pretty much carried over to the Raffle and mega millions ticket.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that this is the most excited I’ve been for a scratch and win ever since it’s the most I’ve ever won from a Scratch and Win ever. My new goal is to play every single game scratch and win that comes out. I’ll have to file down the numbers of tickets I do play and post a list.

Past Winning Numbers for Friday

01 17 40 51 52 07

Nobody won it so now the jackpot for Tuesday July 3rd is worth 106 Million bucks!
