Michigan Mega Millions 106 Mill, plus lottery change questions

Hello all and welcome to my first post on WordPress.com. It’s nothing different or special, just a new place to blog with a few extras….so ya, it is different and special.

Not much has happened in terms of lottery except for the fact that the Mega Millions is up to 106 million!! Of course if it goes over 100 million the commercials start rolling and everybody jumps in for a piece. This is great! It brings the awareness up to the state of Michigan about it and the jackpot climbs SO much faster once the public is dying to become an instant multi-millionaire. It’s pretty slow to climb up to 100 mill, possibly 4 weeks? Not really sure on the numbers, but it takes 2-3 to jump up to 300 million. Is it that people are only playing because they are aware of the publicity? or do they just play after it reaches 100 million because they don’t want to waste a dollar on winning anything less? It’s hard to believe people would be considering WASTING their money on playing a certain jackpot prize. The odds are the same and your still spending the same amount for a chance to win at least 14,00,000 % of what you paid for it.

So at what point does the lottery become wasting money and at what point does it make it worth it? Post your comments on what you think!

I’ve also come across a few people with some views about the lottery and how it should be changed. Me personally? Nothing is wrong with the lottery right now. $1 a ticket for a chance to become an instant millionaire. Some people have claimed that $2 a ticket will make the jackpots higher if they raise the other prizes and everybody will play it more knowing that they can win more. I’ll have to disagree on that point, not that there’s people that won’t pay $2 a ticket, but the majority will never play or fall for that kind of deal. People love paying just a dollar for a chance to be a millionaire. Paying 2 bucks would just put some people off and leave it for only the hardcore players. If only the hardcore players are playing then the pot won’t raise and it’ll be the same or lower due to lack of playing. Only the small prizes will be bigger and that should calm the $2 ticket players. In the end, for $2 bucks, you have 2 chances to win multimillions. Not a bad idea. I’d rather have 2 chances to win the same pot that I could win with 1 chance at $2. I guess it’s each to his own, spend 2 bucks or 1 buck to pretty much win the big pot.

I did happen to pick up some of the latest scratch and win tickets that Michigan has to offer. It’s the new 2 for 1 ticket where you have 6 chance to win a prize. I ended up buying 2 tickets in hopes that I’ll win at least a little something right? Well that wasn’t the case. The odds were 1:5.7. So the only guarantee is at least buying 6 tickets. So I spent $2 on scratch and wins and didn’t get squat. I did however grab my ticket for Tuesdays drawing of 106 Million!!! I got a bad feeling about this one, but maybe in opposite land that’s the kind of feeling I need to win the lottery! I’m not quite where the store is I bought it from, but it was a combination gas station liquor stor at the corner of Vreeland and Fort in Trenton, Michigan. Good people there.

Shameless Plugs:
- wordpress.com – Ok, your here, but i’m giving a plug for this place. If you haven’t signed up for an account to blog then do so now!

- Random Gas Station – (Vreeland and Fort St., Trenton, MI) – Not sure the name, maybe mobil or marathon, but they were quite nice and friendly.
